How to get there from Pettaugh: North out of Pettaugh on the Debenham Road, then left heading towards the village centre and park anywhere along the High Street – The Angel is towards the far end of the High Street, on the right; about 2½ miles
Listed building grade: II Some of the building dates from the 16th century, with much subsequent work.
The Angel closed a few weeks ago. BUT, has now reopened! (as of Friday 19th April)
The previous owners wrote: We are pleased to announce that we have found a way with the help of MSDC to reopen The Angel as a public house. We hope to reopen within the next couple of months, and will of course keep everyone updated of progress.
We will not be personally running the pub, it will be run by a new landlord or landlady who will rent the space. We do have someone lined up with proven local and industry experience who would like to take it on.
We are all clearly passionate about keeping The Angel open as a pub, so it is now really important that everyone supports the new landlord and lady to ensure it's success.

Very friendly and courteous staff, good range of well-kept beers and the food is excellent made fresh with local produce.
Nice to see a pub which has a menu shorter than the range of beers, means they can do what they offer well.
Menu changed weekly and always something a bit different.
Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, including dogs and children.

Tempted by the good reports (above), we decided to try The Angel for lunch today. Ann had pigeon, beetroot and walnut salad (starter portion -- a ladies' lunch!), and I had local beef burger and fries (a man's portion!) -- both were excellent! Service was very good and friendly. Nick and Tracey Paine are trying hard to establish The Angel as a friendly pub with excellent beer, foodand service -- they deserve support!
